John was born on April 19th, 1699.1   John's father was Joseph Goad and his mother was Hannah Atkinson.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Goad and Alice. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Joseph, Richard, Robert, Benjamin, Isaac, Mary and Hannah.  He was the sixth oldest of the nine children.
