Eliza was born in 1811 and her baptism took place on November 14th, 1811 in Steeple Ashton. Eliza's father was Thomas Mitchell and her mother was Betty dJoshua Beaven.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Mitchel and Elizabeth; her maternal grandparents were Joshua Bevan and Ann Summers. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Job, Daniel, Emanuel, Anna and Eleanor.  She was the youngest of the six children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named George, Joan, Mary, Jane and Ann.
