Tobias was born on June 8th, 1962. Tobias' father was Hendrik (Hennie) Winterbach and his mother was Verna Elizabeth Marais. His paternal grandparents were Tobias Johannes Winterbach and Susanna Philippina Louw. He had a brother and two sisters, named Hendrik, Solinde and Veranza. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died from cancer at the age of 60 on August 31st, 2022 in Louis Leipoldt Hospital, Bellville, Cape Town. The funeral took place on September 6th, 2022 in The Bay Christian Family Church, Somerset West.¹¹
