Felix was born on September 14th, 1838 in Lummen.  Felix's father was Joannes Franciscus Caels and his mother was Carolina Raepers.  His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Caels and Catherina Maris; his maternal grandparents were Henri Raepers and Marie Christine Melot.  He had a brother and two sisters, named Joannes Arnoldus, Coleta and Philomena.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He had a half-sister named Carolina.  He died at the age of 60 on April 1st, 1899.
