Coleta was born in 1835.  Coleta's father was Joannes Franciscus Caels and her mother was Carolina Raepers.  Her paternal grandparents were Jacobus Caels and Catherina Maris; her maternal grandparents were Henri Raepers and Marie Christine Melot.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Joannes Arnoldus, Felix and Philomena.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She had a half-sister named Carolina.
