William was born on June 18th, 1845 in Hindmarsh, South Australia.1   William's father was John Browning Turner and his mother was Jane Atkins.  His paternal grandfather was Turner. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Kendrick, Henry, Mary, Elizabeth, Ellen and Amy.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 1 on December 30th, 1846 in Hindmarsh, South Australia.1
