Esther was born in 1922 in Jennerstown, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1  Esther's father was Rev William Mullen Minerd and his mother was Violet Pearl Johnson (Minerd).  His paternal grandparents were Charles Marion Minerd and Sabina Matilda Pierce (Minerd); his maternal grandfather was Jesse Johnson and his maternal grandmother is ? ? (Johnson). He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Bertha, Donald, Ruth, Nellie, Violet, Melvin, Ethel, Paul and Lillian.  He died at the age of 76 in 1998 in Easy Living Estates, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was buried in Weller Cemetery, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1 1

Esther and Lester were married in a religious & civil ceremony.1  They had four sons and three daughters, named William, Lester, Clifford, Edward, Anna, Shirley and Linda.
