His paternal grandparents were William Bouchier and Anne of Woodstock; his maternal grandparents were Richard (Baron) Berners and Philippa Dalyngruge. He had two sisters named Elizabeth and Joanna. Sir Humphrey Bourchier was born before 1451. He was the son of Sir John Bourchier, 1st Lord Berners and Marjorie Berners.
He married Elizabeth Tylney, daughter of Sir Frederick Tylney and Elizabeth Cheney.
He died on 14 April 1471, killed in action.
Sir Humphrey Bourchier fought in the Battle of Barnet on 14 April 1471, fighting on the Yorkist side.
