Stephanos was born in 0897 in Constantinople, Byzantine Empire.1 Stephanos' father was Emperor Romanus Lekapenos of Byzantium I and his mother was Theodora of Byzantium. His paternal grandparents were Theophylaktos Abstartus and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Throphylanos, Christophoros, Konstantinos, Theophylaktos, Eleni and Agatha. He was the third oldest of the seven children.-
