Herfast was born about 0921 in Crepon, Normandy, France.1  Herfast's father was Gorm Haraldsson and his mother was Thyra Klacksdottir.  His paternal grandparents were Harold Parcus and Elfgifu Wessex; his maternal grandparents were King Edward (The Elder) of England I and Queen of England Aelflaeda of Ethelhelm. He had four brothers and a sister, named Knut, Bluetooth, Bluetooth, Toke and Gunhild.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died in 1002 in Longueville-sur-Scie, Seine-Inferieure, Normandy, France.1

Herfast and Gunnhild were married.  They had two sons and four daughters, named Herbastus, Herfast, Wevia, Gonnor, Senfrie (Eva) and Avelina.
