Thyra was born in 0896 in Denmark.1  Thyra's father was King Edward (The Elder) of England I and her mother was Queen of England Aelflaeda of Ethelhelm.  Her paternal grandparents were Alfred (The Great) England and Ealhswith of the Gaini; her maternal grandparents were Ealdorman of Ethelhelm and <Unknown>. She had two sisters named Edgiva and Eadgyth. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Aethelstan, Edmund I, Aelgifu, Emiliane and Beatrice.  She died at the age of 39 in 0935.1

Thyra and Gorm were married.  They had five sons and a daughter, named Knut, Bluetooth, Bluetooth, Toke, Herfast and Gunhild.
