William (Billy) Payne

William, known as Billy, was born in 1785 in Bedford Co., Virginia.¹ Billy's father was John Payne Sr. and his mother was Sarah Ellis. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Payne and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Moses, Ellis, Hannah, Elizabeth and Nancy. He was the third oldest of the seven children.
