Silas Benton Alvord 
Silas Benton was born on July 9th, 1843 in Norfolk, CT.1 Silas Benton's father was Jesse Herd Alvord and his mother was Sylvia Ann Edgecomb. His paternal grandparents were Ashbel Alvord and Mary Jacobs; his maternal grandfather was Charles Edgecomb. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Calvin Gridley, William Watson, Henry, Sarah Ann, Mariette, Jane Maria, Emily Matilda, Harriet Ella and Martha. He was the oldest of the ten children.1 -
