Carl von Ardeck 
Carl was born in 1861. Carl's father was Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld and his mother was Marie von Hanau. His paternal grandparents were Karl von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld and Sofie von Bentheim-Steinfort. He had a brother and three sisters, named Friedrich Wilhelm, Elisabeth, Alice and Luise. He was the second oldest of the five children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Chlodwig, Eduard, Julian, Christian and Berta Luise. He died at the age of 77 in 1938.
