Nellie May was born on January 12th, 1876 in Portage, Wood County, Ohio. Nellie May's father was Reuben Perez Hillard and her mother was Mary Ann Dresser. Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Hillard and Martha McDonald. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Robert Ross, Charles Rowland, Frank Donnelly, Laura Augusta Frederica and Daisy E.. She is the second oldest of the six children.-
