Oswald was born in June 1892 in New York. Oswald's father was Ole Johan Osmundsen and his mother was Jensine Jensen. His paternal grandparents are Osmund Jonsen and Anna Johannsdatter; his maternal grandparents are Jens Olsen and Berta Olsdatter. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, Anna, Bessie and Dagmar. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died in New York.-
