Johanna was born in Le Quesnoy, Nord, France.  Johanna's father was Wilhelm III Von Holland and her mother was Jeanne De Valois.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann I von Hennegau and Philippa of Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were Charles I of France and Marguerite di Sicily-Naples. She had two brothers and five sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Willem IV, Louis, Sibylla, Margaretha, Isabella, Agnes, Philippa and Jan.  She died in 1374 in Julich, Rheinland, Prussia.
