Umberto III was born in Savoie, France.  Umberto III's father was Amadeo III de Savoie and his mother was Mathilde de Albon.  His paternal grandparents were Humbert II de Maurienne & Savoy and Gisele De Macon De Bourgogne; his maternal grandparents were Guigues III de Albon and Mathilde Atheling. He had three brothers and six sisters, named John of, Peter of, William of, Elisa of, Margaret of, Agnes of, Mafalda (Mahaut) of, Isabella of and Juliana of.  He died in France.
