Isabel was born in 1173 in Pembroke,Pembrokeshire,Wales.  Isabel's father was Earl of Pembroke Richard (Strong Bow) de Clare and her mother was Eve Mac Murrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert Fitzgilbert de Clare and Isabel Elizabeth Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were Dermot Mac Murrough and More O'Toole.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 47 in 1220.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey.
