John Bass Sr. 
John was born on December 4th, 1673 in Nanesmond County,Virginia.1 John's father was William Basse Sr. and his mother was Catherine Elizabeth Lanier. His paternal grandparents were John Basse and Keziah Elizabeth Tucker; his maternal grandfather was John Lanier. He had five brothers and a sister, named Edward, Keziah, William, Joseph, Thomas and Mary. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 58 on February 3rd, 1732 in Bertie Precinct,Abemarle Co.,North Carolina.-
