Her paternal grandparents were Philip Tepley and Katherine Stein; her maternal grandparents were James Vossanek( Wasinek) and Josephka Husak. She had four sisters named Amelia, Josephine, Pauline and Elvina. She was the second youngest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Eliza.
