Joan de was born about 1196 in <, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England>.1   Joan de's father was William Fitzpatrick and her mother was Eleanor (Alianore) De Vitre.  Her paternal grandparents were Patrick Devereux Earl of Salisbury and Ela De Talavaise; her maternal grandparents are Robert De Vitre and Emma Dinan. She had a brother and a sister, named Gilbert Malmaines and Ela.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had a half-sister named Ela.  She died in , , , France.1
