Hermann I was born about 1128 in Orlamunde, , , Thuringia. Hermann I's father is Albert I The Of Saxony Duke and his mother is Sophia Of Wizenburg. His paternal grandfather was Otto Of Anhalt Count and his paternal grandmother is Eilice Of Saxony Countess; his maternal grandparents were Hermann I Of Winzenburg Count and Hedwig Of Windberg Countess. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Otto I, Albrecht, Bernard III, Gertrud (Sybilla) and Hedwig. He was the oldest of the six children. He died on October 19th, 1176. He was buried in October 1176.-
