Joscelin was born in Louvaine, Belgium.  Joscelin's father was Godfrey VII the Bearded Barbutus of Louvaine and his mother was Clemence de Ivrea of Burgundy.  His paternal grandparents were Henry II of Brabant & Louvain and Adelaide (Adela) von der Betuwe of Thuringa; his maternal grandparents were William I the Great of Burgundy and Etiennette de Longwy. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Godfrey II Lothier of, Baldwin VII Hapkin of, Adeliza de Brabant of and Ida of Lower.  He died in Egmanton, Nottinghamshire, England.


Joscelin's family with Agnes de Percy

‌Joscelin and Agnes were married in a religious ceremony after 1154.  They had five sons and three daughters, named Jocelin, Ralph, Richard, Henry, Robert, Maud de Louvain, Alice and Eleanor.
