Ermengarde was born about 0962.  Ermengarde's father was Geoffrey I Grisegonelle of Anjou and her mother was Adelais (Adelaide) de Vermandois de Chalon.  Her paternal grandparents were Fulk II the Good of Anjou and Gerberga de Gastinois; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Vermandois of Troyes and Adela (Adelaide) Were de Troyes of Vergy. She had a brother and two sisters, named Fulk III Nera the Black of, Adela and Gerberge Grisgonelle of.  She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-sister named Gerberga of.  She died after 0982.
