Maria was born about 1762 in Upper Milford Township, Northampton County (later Lehigh), Pennsylvania. Maria's father was Phillip Henrich Yaple and her mother was Susanna Weske. Her paternal grandparents are Wolfgang Christian Jeppel and Anna Apollonia Wilhelm; her maternal grandfather is Jean Phillip Vesquea. She has five brothers named Jacob, Johan Nicholas, Johannes, Johann Christian and Johann Philip. She had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Johan Adam, Johann Henry, Peter, Heinrich, David, Anna Maria and Maria Elizabeth.General Notes
