Emma of was born in Normandy, France.  Emma of's father was Richard I the Fearless of Normandy and her mother was Gunnora de Crepon.  Her paternal grandparents were William I Longsword of Normandy and Sprota (Adela) de Senlis de Bretagne; her maternal grandparents were Herbastus the Dane de Crepon and Gunhild Olafsdatter of Sweden. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Mauger, Godfrey, Richard II The Good of, William de Hiesmes, Matilda (Mahaud), Hedwig (Havoise) and Beatrice of. She had four half-sisters named Papia of, Fredesende of, Muriella and Sporta of.  She died in Winchester, England.  She was buried in 1052 in Winchester Cathedral, London, England.
