Anna Barbara was born in Benken, Switzerland. Anna Barbara's father was Lienert Heyer and her mother is Clara Grace Lutzler. Her paternal grandparents were Anton Heyer and Anna Elizabeth Ruflin; her maternal grandfather was Rudolph Lutzler. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Leonard, Hans Rudolph, Hans Ulrich, Antoni, Ursula, Elizabeth, Clara, Magdalene and Eve.
