Deed fron T. Snodgras to W. M. Peyton, Boone Co., Deed Book B pg 180-1
This deed made the 16th day of July in the year 1855 between Tetham Snod
gr ass & Rolana his wife of the conty of Boone & State of Virginia of t
he fir st part and W. M. Peyton of the county of Roanoke and state of Virg
in ia of the 2d part. Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of one h
und red dollars the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said The
th am & Rolana his wife parties of the first part grant unto th said W
m. M. P eyton part of the 2d part & by these presents do grant bargain se
ll relea se and fonfirm unto the said Peyton forever the following pie
ce or parc el of land lying and being in the county of Boone and Sta
te of Virginia Dr adys creek ( and upper side therof) a branch of Big Co
al River beginni ng at a poplar at a spring up a small branch then
ce in a line along the mo untain side to the line of Benjamin Byrnsides fo
rmerly mow Wm. M. Peyt on at a sugar tree which is also the corner to a tr
act sold by said Byrnsi de to J. J. Crotty thence with sd Byrnsides on Pet
ons line to the top of t he mountain between Dradys Creek and Indian Cre
ek thence along sd dividi ng ridge to the line of Rachel Williams tract n
ow sd Peytons thence wi th sd line to the beginning.
And the said parties of the first part covenant with the party of the se
co nd part that they will warrant and forever fedend the proper hereby con
vey ed. Witness the following signature and seals

I William Holstine a Justice of the peace in and for the county afore
sa is in the State of Virginia do certify that Tetham Snodgrass whose nam
es a re signed to the writing hereto annexed bearing date on the 16 d
ay of Ju ly 1855 he acknowledged the same before me in my county aforesai
d. Giv en under my hand this 16 day of July 1855.

We William Holstine and John A. Barker Justices of the peace in and f
or t he county aforesain in the state of Virginia do certify that Rolena S
nodgr ass wife of Tetham Snodgrass whose names are signed to the writing h
ere to annexed bearing date on the 16th of July 1855 personally appeared b
efo re us in the county aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apa
rt f rom her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to h
er s he the said Rolena Snodgrass acknowledged the daid weiting to be h
er act a nd declared that she had willingly executed the same and did n
ot wish to r etract it. Given under our hands this 16th day of July 1855.

This deed made the 18th day of September in the year of our Lord one tho
us and eight hundred and fifty seven between John Gobbln (sic) (son of Abr
aha m) & Mahaly his wife of the county of Washington and the state of t
he fir st part and Tetheam Snodgrass of the county of Boone and state of V
irgin ia of the second part. Witnesseth, that in consideration of the s
um of th irty three dollars & thirty three and one third cents the said Jo
hn Gob le & Mahaley his wife doth grant unto the said Tethem Snodgrass the
ir inte rest in certain tract or parcel ofland lying and being in the coun
ty of Bo one & state of Virginia on Drawdys creek it being one sixth pa
rt of a tra ct of land which Nathaniel Basham died seized in posession o
