Ruth Jane was born about 1835 in Boone Co., West Virginia.1 Ruth Jane's father was Titham Snodgrass and her mother is Ruhamah Paulina Basham. Her paternal grandparents are Robert Snodgrass and Elizabeth Unknown; her maternal grandfather was Nathan, Sr. Basham and her maternal grandmother is Mary Lewis. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Preston A. Snodgrass, John Wademan, Mahala Ann, Mary E. and Leah Martha. She is the oldest of the six children.-
