Zelar Purcell 
Zelar was born on August 3rd, 1877 in Roundrock, Williamson Co., Texas.1 Zelar's father was Samuel Bruer Purcell and his mother was Sabra Caroline Smalley. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin S. Purcell and Mary Smalley; his maternal grandparents were Freeman Jasper,Jr. Smalley and Nancy Ann Asher. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Ulysses Samuel, Joseph Joel A., Willie B., Merton Mart, Freeman Bruer, Samuel Eldon, Mary Anna, Alice Benjamin, Hattie and Dora. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 92 on October 10th, 1969.1 General Notes
