Corneilus was born on January 18th, 1827 in Georgia.1 Corneilus' father was Benjamin S. Purcell and his mother was Besty Anderson. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Purcell and Ann Brewer. He had three brothers and a sister, named William Charles, Charles McLain, M. I. and Elizabeth.
