Little Berry Hughes

Little Berry was born about 1820.¹   Little Berry's father was Leander, Sr. Hughes and his mother is Elizabeth Fretwell.  His paternal grandfather was Powell Hughes and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Coleman. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named Powell, Leonard F., John J., Sr., Leander, William, Farley B., Thomas Henry, Jesse Chesterfield, Julia A., Gilley, Gideliah, Carolina, Philadelphia, Elizabeth 'Betsy', Susan L. and Nancy Ann.  He is the eighth youngest of the seventeen children. He has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ira B. and Sally Jane.
