Jesse Chesterfield Hughes

Jesse Chesterfield was born about 1834.¹   Jesse Chesterfield's father was Leander, Sr. Hughes and his mother is Elizabeth Fretwell.  His paternal grandfather was Powell Hughes and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Coleman. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named Powell, Leonard F., John J., Sr., Leander, Little Berry, William, Farley B., Thomas Henry, Julia A., Gilley, Gideliah, Carolina, Philadelphia, Elizabeth 'Betsy', Susan L. and Nancy Ann.  He is the second youngest of the seventeen children. He has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Ira B. and Sally Jane.
