William Melton Elkin 
William Melton was born on May 4th, 1814 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 William Melton's father was Abel Elkin and his mother was Polly Skaggs. His paternal grandparents are Nathaniel Elkin and Rachel Elizabeth Hart; his maternal grandparents were William Skaggs and Mary Simpson. He had a brother named James. He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and six half-sisters, named Abel,Jr., Rachel, Nancy, Betty, Polly, Diadema and Melvina. He died at the age of 84 on November 24th, 1898 in Larue Co., Kentucky.1 General Notes
