Thomas Avery was born on February 10th, 1877 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.1 Thomas Avery's father was William D. Bassham and his mother was Kisiah Roper. His paternal grandparents were Richard Basham and Pheebee Pinnicuff. He had two brothers and three sisters, named J. Richard, L. J., Nancy E. (Or Doris E), Sarah M. and S. E.. He was the second youngest of the six children. He had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Russell Lyourfus, Jasper N. (Inspirit?), Solomon J. (Bud), William J., John S., V.
