Lilla Mae was born on January 9th, 1904 in Daviess Co., Kentucky.1 Lilla Mae's father was James Henry Basham and her mother was Mary O. (Molly) Higgs. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Blades Basham and Sarah Jane Brock; her maternal grandparents were Alfred Higgs and Sarah Jane Calloway. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named Marion Adolphus, Robert Henry, Steven IVa, George Leslie, Clara Bell, Ella Mae, Alice, Ida B., Willa Geneva, Lillie Jane, Nellie Pearl and Della Sue. She is the third youngest of the thirteen children. She had a half-brother named William Elva.General Notes
