Hiram A was born on March 29th, 1865 in Richardville, Warren Co., Kentucky.1 Hiram A's father was Hiram Simmons Basham and his mother was Paradine Taylor. His paternal grandparents were Bartlett Basham and Nicey Simmons; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Taylor and Polly Ann Hudnall. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Lazrus Perry, Philander J, Napoleon C, Mary Tom, Bartlett W, Elihu, Elija (Triplet), Lazarus P, Elijah, Mattie (Triplet), Mary T and Mattie.
