Merit Overturf 
Merit was born on May 18th, 1822 in Versailles,Ripley Co.,IN. Merit's father was Conrad Overturf and his mother was Pelina P. Steele. His paternal grandparents were Martin Overturf and Catherine Deitch. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named James Martin, Charles Samuel, Julia Ann, Agnes, Catherine, Sarah M., Mary Jane, Elizabeth and Margaret. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 11 on June 17th, 1833 in Versailles,Ripley Co.,IN.-
