Her paternal grandparents were James Harvey MAYNARD and Sena Jane PERRY; her maternal grandparents were Absalom T. FINLEY and Malinda E. ADKINS. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Jay C., Jesse D., Rosalee, Rinda, Katherine, Addie and Emma Jo. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. Romaine Leading
Romaine Leading, age 83, of Massillon, died Friday evening at Gaslite Villa in Canal Fulton. Her death followed a brief illness. She was born in Scioto County on September 11, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Adam and Amy (Finley) Maynard. She was an area resident since 1942. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and had worked at Superior Brand Meats. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Leading, her brother Jay Maynard and her sister Katherine Maynard. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, John and Laura Leading of Massillon; her granddaughters, Lanessa and Jessica Leading of Massillon; her sisters, Rosalee Kern of Portsmouth, Ohio, Addie Sommer of Wheelersburg, OH, Rinda Gupton and Emma Jo Lewis both of Florida; her brother, Jesse (Joann) Maynard of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Brigham officiating. Cremation will follow and her cremains will be interred at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 127 Cherry Road NE, Massillon, OH 44646
Romaine will always be remembered as a loving mother, and a loving "Gram" to Lanessa and Jessica and many of their close friends.
