Martha Jane was born on May 23rd, 1857 in Payson, , Utah. Martha Jane's father was William Charles WIGHTMAN and her mother was Lucretia Jane PEPPER. Her paternal grandparents were William WIGHTMAN and DOLLY EATON; her maternal grandparents were George Harrison PEPPER and Jane DIXON. She had twelve brothers and three sisters, named William Charles, David MORONI, ROY, George, Henry, Lyman Eaton, Harrison PEPPER, CZAR Raymond, Frank LYNVILLE, TENNYSON, Ben ROLLA, VALENTINE, Lucretia Anna, Mary Elizabeth and Ethel ESTELL. She was the second oldest of the sixteen children.-
