Robert (John) III was born in 1337 in Dundonald, Argyllshire, Scotland.  Robert (John) III's father was Robert II De Bruce Stuart and his mother was Elizabeth Mure.  His paternal grandparents were Walter Allan Stuart and Marjorie De Bruce; his maternal grandfather was Sir Adam Mure. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, John III, Walter, Alexander "The Wolf", Isabel, Katherine Jean Elizabeth, Margaret and Jean.  He was the oldest of the nine children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Sir David, Walter and Egidia.  He died at the age of 69 on April 4th, 1406 in Castle Rothesay, Dundonald, Ayrshire.
