Thomas was born about 1388. Thomas' father was Reginald De Cobham and his mother was Anne Bardolph. His paternal grandparents were Reginald de Cobham and Eleanor Maltravors; his maternal grandfather was Lord Bardolph Thomas. He had four sisters named Anne, Elizabeth, Margaret and Eleanor. He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Reginald.-
