Joan was born in 1232. Joan's father was Lord Roger Dudley de Somery and her mother was Nichola D'Aubigny. Her paternal grandparents were Lord Ralph de Somery and Margaret Fitzgilbert Marshall; her maternal grandparents were William D'Aubigny and Countess Maud de Meschines. She had three sisters named Maud, Margaret and Mabel. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Roger. She died at the age of 50 in 1282 in Knockin, Warwickshire, England.General Notes
