Louis VIII was born in 1187 in France.  Louis VIII's father was King Philip Augustus II de France and his mother was Queen Isabel de Flanders.  His paternal grandparents were King Louis VII de Capet and Queen Alix deChampagne; his maternal grandfather was Baldwin VIII of Flanders Count.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 39 in 1226.
