Matilda was born about 1031 in Flanders.  Matilda's father was Baudouin V , Count of Flanders and her mother was Adele de France.  Her paternal grandparents were Count  Baldwin Baudouin IV ("le Barbu") de Flanders and Ogive Otgiva de Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were Robert II "The Pious" de France , King of France and Constance de Toulouse. She had three brothers named Baldwin\Baudouin VI , Count, Baldwin\Baudouin VI , Count and Robert. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named William I , Count, Robert, Robert and Matilda.  She died on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen,Calvados,France.

‌Matilda and "The Conqueror" were married in a religious ceremony in 1053.  They had three sons and a daughter, named Henry I "Beauclerc", Robert II, Robert II and Adela.
