John de Clare 
John was born in 1170 in Clare, Suffolk, England. John's father was Roger de Clare Earl of Gloucester and his mother was Countess Maud de St. Hilary de Harcourt. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Richard, James, Roger, Henry, Mabel and Elena. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named William.
