Llewellyn, known as The Great, was born in 1173 in Aberffrawcas,Anglesey, Wales.1   The Great's father was Pr. Iorwerth Drwymdwn ap Owain and his mother was Maret verch Madoc of Powys-Vadoc.  His paternal grandparents were King Owain ap Gruffudd of Gwynedd and Gwladys verch Llywarch of N Wales; his maternal grandparents were Pr. Madoc ap Maredudd and Susanna verch Gruffydd of Gwynedd.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 67 on April 11th, 1240 in Aberconwy, Caer, Wales.  He was buried in 1240 in Conway,,Wales.1
