Joseph Merritt 
Joseph was born on June 6th, 1662. Joseph's father was Thomas II Merritt and his mother was Jane Sherwood. His paternal grandparents were Thomas I Merritt and Susanna Cranniwell; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Sherwood and Alice Seabrook. He had nine brothers and four sisters, named John, Ephhraim, Isaac, Samuel, Steven, Edward, Thomas, Mathew, Thomas III, Alice, Jane, Rose and Elizabeth. He was the fourth oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 91 on May 12th, 1754 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut.-
