His paternal grandparents were Abbot Crinan of Dunkeld and Bethoc (Beatrix) of Scone; his maternal grandparents were Earl Sigurd of Northumbria and Elflaed of Northumbria. He was an only child. He died due to battle casualty at the age of 62 on November 13th, 1093 in Alnwick, Nhum, England.. He was buried in Escorial, Madrid, Spain.General Notes
